Post-16 Opportunities
The school provides a specialist Post-16 provision designed for young people with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It supports students with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) where SEMH is the primary identified need. In addition, students may have other diagnoses, including Autism, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, School-Based Anxiety, Prolonged Social Withdrawal, Speech, Language, and Communication Needs, Sensory Processing Needs, and Social Communication Needs.
Eligibility and Admissions
Students may join the Post-16 provision from Year 12 onwards, typically between the ages of 16 and 25. The provision can accommodate approximately 100 students from the local area and beyond. Most students remain in the program for one to two years.
Admissions are not dependent on prior learning or qualifications, acknowledging that some students may have had disrupted education during their secondary school years.
Applications must be submitted through the appropriate Local Authority SEN Team. Once referral documents are received, each application is reviewed to determine whether the school can meet the young person’s needs. The next step involves an informal interview process. If, after consultation and a successful interview, a placement is deemed suitable, the Local Authority will name the school in Section I of the EHCP.
Transition and Induction
It is recognised that transitioning to a new educational environment can be challenging. To support this, a structured induction program is offered, tailored to each student's needs.
Enquiries and Open Days
Enquiries from parents and carers are welcomed at any stage of the process. Additionally, three open days are hosted per year for prospective students and their families to explore the provision and ask questions.
